CAMP 2004 UPDATES

Session I

Session one began with a total of 103 Campers. Eight different schools fill out the ranks for session one. Illinois sent three teams, Cary-Grove High School, Byron High School and LeRoy High School. Indiana sent five teams, Alexandria High School, Danville High School, Eastbrook High School, Garrett High School and Monrovia High School. All ascended on the Taylor University Campus, Upland Indiana on Friday June 11th.

Brad McClain our camp store manager provides drinks and banking for the campers. Keeping the campers hydrated is a prime concern. Andy Copeland (Danville H.S.) sells camp shorts and hats to those who wish to display the Indiana Option Camp logo.

Twenty coaches began puting the campers through various drills for their positions on June 11th. Coach Prescott (Kankakee Valley H. S.) assembled a very able coaching staff again this year. Coach Bob Bridge (Southwood H.S.) Coordinates the Quarterback coaches: Bruce Kay ( Cary-Grove H. S.) Andy Thomas (Garrett H.S.), and Alan Hensell (Franklin College). Coach Tim DuBois Coordinates the Line coaches: Zack Dock ( Garrett H.S.), Chad Hollenbaugh (Garrett H.S.), Keith Kilmer (Lowell H.S.), Doug Larson (LeRoy H.S.) and Jim Kiechle (Lowell H.S.). The Camps Passing Guru is Jeff Adamson (Eastbrook H.S.) who works with Andy Cooper (Danville H.S.). Matt DeVault (Alexandria H.S.) works with the Fullbacks. Coaches Steve Boozier (Blackford H.S.) and Ike Harmon (Garrett H.S.) work with the Halfbacks. Andy Copeland (Danville H.S.) works with the Wide Receivers. Bart Curtis (New Prairie H.S.) works with the Tight Ends. Coach Bob Copeland Camp organizer oversees coaches and campers alike.

The final practice concluded with a scrimmage between the different teams. This year the teams were "Seeded" so that the winners played against each other in the second round.

Scoring in the scrimmage is as follows:

Each team has two ten minute offensive periods to get as many plays as they can in that time period. The offense starts from the 40 yard line going in. The offense gets a point for each first down and 6 points for each touchdown. If you don't convert on the 4th down the ball will remain at that point and the offense continues to move the ball down the field. An interception results in the ball going back to the 40 yard line.
